Sleeping Among the Sea Grapes
Michael C. Robson
A Guide to Reside and Hide Beachside
Mike Robson grew up in the house next to mine in Florida.
He had a fruitful career as a hairdresser until his life took a turn and he became homeless. Mike would often sleep in his parent's backyard, but occasionally sleep on the beach, under the sea grapes which thrive along the beach dunes.
Mike self published this book. It is his account on how to be homeless on the beach, a how-to guide.
Mike gave my mother a copy of this book, and I was blown away when I saw it.
I brought these books to book fairs, and sold many. Mike felt a sense of validation knowing his book was being seen in New York and Los Angeles.
It led him to begin a follow up book. I was helping him produce it.
Then Mike passed away of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (wet brain).
I asked his mother if she found any of the materials for his second book.
She wasn't interested in sharing them with me. The shocking grief of losing her son, combined with the shame of him being homeless, was too much to bear.
